I love those SD-9s's too, woe be my wallet if anybody comes out with an accurate RSD-12. One day if I acquire enough of those six axles I can alternate between steam and diesel eras. I use the idea (excuse) it will save long term wear and tear on my steam engines :)
Good to see you are moving along nicely. Have you any more insight to your reach problem in this area with the mock up? Reach is a constant struggle in my planning.
At my height of 5'9" the through girder bridge at the back of the wye really pushes the limits of my reach. Standing on a step stool removes that issue for me. This area will have a open area to access seen at left for any major issues. Luckily the wye was mainly used as a junction and turning steam engines, not for switching moves to my knowledge. This will be the deepest area on the layout, otherwise 24" is the limit.
Looking good Chris! ... "love" those SD9's ... won't be long before you are operating!!
